How to prepare your area

Here are some tips to help us better clear your snow more efficiently

When you manually clear your sidewalks, roofs or other surfaces and deposit snow in your parking lot, be sure to do this before our operator passes, drop it off in the center of the parking lot, about five feet from the garage door and at a respectable height, as they will not be responsible to come back. Do not leave any objects in the parking lot such as recycling bins, garbage cans, etc.

Our snow removal services vary depending on where you live and the size of your driveway.

RECOMMENDATIONS

When we are in snow removal operation, we ask for your cooperation to avoid contacting us unless it is an emergency.

Gravel entrances will not be cleared of snow before the ground freezes (about 5 cm of snow will be left on the ground).

We ask for your understanding during the first snow removal visit which is an adaptation for our operators. The service may be slowed down and there may be some snow left (about 5 cm) near the curbs of the entrance as well as the sidewalk, to let them freeze.

When there is accumulation of snow and it persists, our priority is to ensure that you can enter and exit your entrance easily. A clearing rotation will be carried out as quickly as possible.

After a snow accumulation, we ask you move your vehicle before 12:00 PM to allow us to clear snow from your parking area.

The complete finishing of your entrance will be done once the snow has stopped.

Your vehicle should be parked in the entrance so we can remove as much snow as possible at night, when there is 5 cm or more.

We always try to coordinate our snow removal service with that of the city to avoid leaving the embankment too long in your entrance.

The customer is responsible for protecting all elements that could be damaged in places where the snow will be blown. (e.g. lamp-posts, shrubs, fences, trees, decorations). We cannot be held responsible for these breakdowns. Make sure garbage cans and recycling bins don't interfere with snow removal.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Those considering hiring a snow removal contractor should ask important questions to ensure they receive the service they deserve.

What is the duration of the contract?
November 1 to March 31
Gravel Entrances!
If your entrance is made of gravel, don't worry if our operators don't come to your house, it's voluntary! The first snow of the season must remain in place, to avoid damaging your entrance. Don't worry, your car will be able to make its way easily. Also, we ask you to alternate your parking spaces during the first snows (when possible). This is to avoid picking up the pebbles and blowing them on the ground.
What is the minimum amount of snowfall for snow removal to take place?
Our contract covers all snowfall of 5cm or more. There will be several visits if the snowfall is above this amount. However, it is possible on occasion that we make removals for less than 5cm, simply as a training exercise or because the snow is heavy and wet and the city's snow plows were on the road. We always come back to clear the debris left by the city's snow plows.
Is my agreement limited to a number of passes?
Our agreements do not include a limit on the number of passes. However, 300cm is the ceiling on the annual accumulation. The average accumulation for Gatineau is only 220 cm.
Are you clearing the debris of the city's snow plow?
Yes, we usually do our first snow removal before the city starts clearing the side streets. We will then make as many trips back and forth necessary to clean up after the city snow plows.
Do you have a special price for semi-detached entrances?
Yes, we offer discounts for semi-detached entrances. Please contact us for more information.
Do you remove the snow left in front of my garage door?
No. We do not offer this service and we do not offer any other hand-shoveling services.
How much accumulation is included in my agreement?
300cm is the ceiling on the annual accumulation. The average accumulation of Gatineau is only 220 cm.
Can your equipment damage my driveway?
Our snow plows offer the safest method for clearing snow from your driveway. Although the tractor is large in size, the weight is evenly distributed among the oversized tires, which translates to less force per square inch than an average car. The fasteners are calibrated to float just above the driveway surface to prevent damage. In addition, at the beginning of the season, we install lane marking poles at the end of the driveway and around obstacles to help our operators navigate throughout the winter. All our tractors are equipped with Teflon blades, which helps protect your surfaces. Despite all the precautions taken, it can happen on very rare occasions that the equipment leaves traces.
What happens in case of damage?
In the unlikely event of accidental damage to property caused by driver or equipment error, our operators are required to report it to our office. However, it is recommended that our customers call to verify the report. We usually carry out non-urgent repairs in the Spring. Other urgent repairs will be resolved as soon as possible. We have an excellent reputation for repairing when damage occurs.
My car is parked in my driveway, will your operator knock on my door for me to move it?
In order to maintain reasonable deadlines, we cannot send our operators to knock on doors in order to move parked vehicles.
Do I have to move my vehicle and when?
WE ASK TO MOVE THE VEHICLE BEFORE THE TRACTOR PASSES. Know that every minute counts and that we unfortunately cannot afford to wait for each customer to get dressed, get out, start, clear snow and move their vehicle!
What about the water valves on my driveway?
It is the owner's responsibility to make sure to contact the City of Gatineau to request a technician to lower the pipes and water plug to the asphalt level. Make sure the city takes care of this is modification before the first snow falls. Also be sure to cut off branches that could interfere with snow removal and don't forget to remove all objects from the snow removal area. Gutter downspouts, flower pots, basketball nets, garbage bins, extension cords, etc. We cannot be held responsible for objects left inside the snow removal area.
When will the lane markers be put in place and removed?
We usually install the markers from October 15 and remove them from April 10, unless Mother Nature decides otherwise. We ask our customers to leave the markers in place so that we can pick them up at the end of the season. Please do not throw them away or store them inside. A fee will be added to your invoice for each missing marker.
What time will my driveway be cleared?
We operate 24 hours a day. Our departure times are based solely on snowfall. On average, we will start snow removal following a snowfall of 5 cm or more. Snowfall of 15cm or more requires several passes. We cannot guarantee the exact time of our visits. As a general rule, our snow removals for under 10 cm take place at night. We will start at 3 am and we will usually have made the first pass before noon. In the event that the city clears snow from residential streets overnight, we will also work during these hours to have your driveway cleared of snow before you go to work. Exceptional storms (more than 25 cm) require many visits and a lot of patience. In these rare cases, delays are possible.
